The Carmelite Spirituality Center is a ministry of the Sisters of Mount Carmel. The center provides programs and space that allow individuals and groups to experience a transformation in prayer, community and justice. August 20-- Desert Day One day mini retreat with Sister Christina Marie Griggs, O. Carm. See program guide for additional Desert Days. August 29-- Morning of Prayer One Tuesday of each month we will offer a different prayer form from the rich tradition of faith. See programs for additional Mornings of Prayer. Sept. 17 - Nov. 5-- Ministry of Mothers Sharing An 8 week program to gather mothers together to form a network of mutual spiritual support to provide an experience of learning and praying together to increase self-acceptance, communication skills, and the use of prayer rituals in the home.
The Center is open to people of all faiths who desire a serene meeting place for faith-focused gatherings and retreats, as well as the opportunity for groups to guide their own programs. Just 40 miles from New Orleans, on the Northshore, the Carmelite Spirituality Center offers a tranquil setting for individuals to leave behind everyday worries to "come aside and rest a while." Year-round flowers and star-filled night skies provide a serene setting for reflection, solitude, celebration and leisure helping to create a sense of community among those who visit.
